CG-FS-220-H1

Chain Guard® Food Grade 220 H1 (CG-FS-220-H1) is a high temperature, ester based synthetic chain oil fortified with anti-wear additives and oxidant inhibitors that optimize the performance and stability of the lubricant.

This ester based product can be used in place of black natural boron nitride graphite on food and bakery oven chains operating below 600°F.  The natural detergency of Chain Guard Food Grade 220 H1 minimizes carbon sludge and buildup on chains contributed by conventional PAO’s, mineral, and vegetable based lubricants when exposed to higher temperature oven environments. In some cases, when applying over top of black graphite lubricant, CG-FS-220-H1 has been known to actually clean the chain of graphite buildup.

CG-FS-220-H1 can be used in extreme high temperature bakery oven applications and has a high flash point and a recommended operating temperature range of -25°C to 315°C (-13°F – 599°F).

Suitable for use in industrial bakeries, this lubricant will pass BRC and OSHA safety audits.  It is an NSF H1 food grade registered product that meets all regulations set out by the FDA (21 CFR 178.3750) and is approved for incidental contact with food in and around food processing areas.  In addition, CG-FS-220-H1 is CFIA registered and approved for use in food processing facilities in Canada.

Q:
We opened a new bakery in May. We purchased an Empire revolving tray oven. The installers gave us a bottle of Chain Guard. We need to order more. It looks as if you cannot purchase anything less than 5 gallons?

Currently, the smallest size available is a 5 US gallon pail.  Please keep in mind that Chain Guard Oven Chain 220 is synthetic with an indefinite shelf life.  Although some clients have kept it longer, we suggest it has a shelf life of 3 years, and given your use case is a revolving tray deck oven, we suggest a lubrication schedule that is frequent enough that will consume this product quicker than 3 years.

Q:
so my question is is this safe to have direct contact with the product as in a whole belt and chain or is this just for drive style chains and try not to have it come in direct contact

CG-FS-220-H1 is NSF H1 registered as a Food Grade.  H1 products are considered the safest food-grade lubricating products and can be used on equipment where incidental contact may occur.  Suitable for applications and use of up to 600ºF, this high-temperature chain lubricant is designed for the drive chain itself and is NOT to be used as a release agent on the oven plates or belt slates.
